Todd Cochrane
Todd Cochrane enjoys project-based learning, working together with ākonga to help them gain skills to match workplace and industry.

It was a maths class at Nelson College which included an element of computer programming that inspired Todd. He now has a list of credentials as long as your arm.

“That thrill has followed me throughout my life,” he said.

Todd has a PhD in Education and a BSc (Honours) in Computing. He has worked as a science programmer in epidemiology, as a dairy farm management software developer, worked with local AI companies and came to Te Pūkenga NMIT in 2013 from WelTec as a Senior Academic in IT.

He is constantly curious and is developing various systems to understand how to transfer technology to learners. Todd is a member of the ACM, IEEE, IEEE Education Society, and member of the Technical Committee on Immersive Learning Environments.

Todd has worked on ‘border crossing’ between virtual and real worlds and has applied these practices in research and education. At Te Pūkenga NMIT, he teaches on the Bachelor of Information Technology and Computer-Generated Imagery programmes.

“Te Pūkenga offers genuine industry guided skills and vocations. I get so much joy from feedback when ākonga succeed in life with our workplace ready experiences.”
