If you test positive for Covid-19 please contact NMIT by email to covid@nmit.ac.nz and let your programme area know.
Testing positive is nothing to be embarrassed about. COVID-19 does not care who it infects.
If you have shared a space with someone who has tested positive:
What you need to do
- You and your whānau should watch for symptoms
- If any develop, get tested immediately
- Then, stay at home until you receive the result
What we’re doing
- NMIT will stay open
- We have appropriate public health measures and cleaning procedures in place
Symptoms of COVID-19
- A new or worsening cough
- Sneezing and runny nose
- A fever
- Temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath
Less common symptoms include diarrhoea, headache, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, malaise, chest pain, abdominal pain, joint pain, or confusion/irritability.

When should you self-isolate?
If you are COVID-19 positive, a household contact of a positive case, waiting for a COVID-19 test result, unwell or have been asked to self-isolate you should stay home.

Rapid Antigen Testing kits (RATs)
RAT kits are available via the public health system to anyone who is symptomatic, and we encourage you to seek one as soon as you become symptomatic. More information on where to access one here(external link).
